My photographs reflect one constituent’s view of a campaign which started humbly and grew into part of a movement which reshaped our political landscape and restored faith in community driven activism and leadership, culminating in arguably the greatest national election upset yet in this century.
The campaign was real, relentless and happening right outside my front door in Queens. I couldn’t not get involved.
After attending a few events in my neighborhood and getting to know the candidate and her volunteer staff, I was invited to photograph many more events and granted access to this burgeoning phenomenon instigated by a twenty-eight year old radical as the campaign took shape in Queens and the Bronx.
The necessity of this revolution, along with the dynamism of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez herself, inspires me to share my voyage with a wider community, in my version, through photographs.
